Blue Oyster Cult is all set for a grand finale to their 50-year-long recording legacy of rock music with this highly anticipated album, Ghost Stories, which is supposedly an enthralling collection of reimagined versions of old original lost gems that were recorded but did not get to see the light. The previous album, The Symbol Remains, was a blockbuster, and so was their 50th Anniversary celebration, so it is no wonder Frontiers Music partnered with the Blue Oyster Cult yet again to come up with one final epilogue. The album Ghost Stories contains a collection of 12 tracks consisting of reimagined versions and newly completed songs over the time frame of 1978 to 2016. It is big news to Blue Oyster Cult connoisseurs as the album contains singles that they deemed as lost gems, which were originally recorded between 1978 and 1983 on reel-to-reel analog tap. They are reimagined by modern AI to transform into digital audio, except for the track, If I Fell, which was recorded in 2016. Moreover, they also have added a studio recording of their concert classic, Kick Out the Jams (MC5 cover), and We Gotta Get out of This Place (The Animals). Apart from that, the album incorporates archive materials that were recorded from workshopping sessions for an album and performance rehearsals. Those original archive materials were originally recorded by the band's original audio engineer, George Geranios, who was an vital part of the band's heyday years. Steve Schenck and Richie Castellano produced and transferred those analog records into digital by de-mixing and re-mixing with AI software. So, expect to hear some changes to those original records. Meanwhile, any of the studio work remaining was wrapped up with the original bandmates, Eric Bloom and Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser, while Albert Bouchard and Rick Downey appeared on drums. The band has already dropped two of the tracks, So Supernatural and Don't Come Running to Me, with respective official music videos. The first release, So Supernatural, carefully encapsulated the true essence of the band's classic hit era via the melodic and mid-tempo groove, somewhat like the Spectres but with a modern touch.
